Are you a tam tiger scientist??

Science and Engineering week is a non-competitive, fun opportunity for Tam Valley Elementary students to exhibit their love of science and /or engineering. Research shows that elementary aged children will develop a view of science that becomes entrenched in them. Let’s help our Tigers to foster a love of scientific learning that aligns with the questions they have about the world around them!

This year, there are TWO ways to get involved:

  • Prepare & Share a project at Science Night: As always, Tigers from ANY grade are welcome to sign up to prepare a science project for our Science Fair (scroll down to learn more and sign up).

  • Check out a daily science activity: This year we will have science and engineering elective activities during the school day throughout science week. Each day will have a science and engineering theme with a science activity at school that Tam Tigers can elect to check out during recess.

Parents can get involved, too:

  • Volunteers Needed! Are you knowledgeable in life sciences, math,  engineering or technology? You can help students see how science and engineering plays out in the daily world.

We’ll also have hands-on projects that won’t require technical knowledge, just enthusiasm.  Stay tuned for more information on science and engineering themes, and parent sign-ups to help out!

Students who sign up to participate in the “Science Fair” portion of Science Week will prepare a science project using the scientific method to guide them. The Science Fair Nights will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 13th and 14th, from 6-7:30 PM in the Tam Valley School Multipurpose Room (MPR). (Student project presentations will be assigned to either Tuesday or Wednesday evening after sign-ups.) There will be time each night for students to present their own projects AND walk around to see what other Tigers did. Please see more info and guidelines here to learn more.
