PTA’s Impact in the Community
Engaging + supporting our community
The Tam Valley PTA engages in community building at the most basic levels—especially during the ongoing pandemic:
SUPPORT: We strive to support underserved and food-insecure families within our community by:
Hosting an Annual School Supply Drive which benefits nearby schools in need
Donating to, and volunteering for, the Pop-Up Food Pantry that ran from March 2020-December 2020
Holiday Toy Drives
TOGETHERNESS: We focus on bringing students and families in our local community together:
Creating the Mill Valley District-wide PTA Treasure Adventure (#tamtigerstogether + #mvsdtogether)
Creating the “Tiger Buddies” Virtual Program during the Pandemic to match Tam Valley students from different grade levels, fostering a sense of community beyond their own classroom
Bringing the Community together through events and programming all year round
ADVOCACY: We also advocate within our community for local and state policy outcomes that will benefit the lives of our children. This is where your paid membership counts! Recent initiatives include:
A letter to the Mill Valley town government supporting a measure to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products in town
